Vinyl flooring and Linoleum Flooring is the excellent flooring options for floor coverings. However, many people are confused about the differences between vinyl flooring and linoleum flooring, or aren’t even aware that they are two separate floor coverings.

Both vinyl flooring and linoleum flooring belong to resilient flooring materials. In 20th century, linoleum flooring was very popular, but around 1950’s it began to be replaced by vinyl flooring. Vinyl flooring and linoleum flooring are flexible and durable, so people are confused. Actually, they are different in some ways.

At first, the linoleum flooring is more expensive than vinyl flooring, because of the lifespan of linoleum flooring is longer than vinyl flooring. While both flooring options are less expensive than floor coverings such as engineered hardwood flooring and tile.

For the installation and maintenance, vinyl flooring and linoleum flooring is easier than hardwood flooring, and vinyl flooring is easier than linoleum, because synthetic material is much less sensitive to moisture and water damage. A sealed linoleum flooring should need as little maintenance as vinyl, but an unsealed linoleum floor might require periodic buffing and polishing.

Vinyl flooring is a natural and environmental material, but vinyl is made from non-renewable materials such as petroleum and natural gas, and emits toxic fumes when it burns. However linoleum flooring is better for people, because it is made from linseed oil. It is recyclable and biodegradable.
